Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know we would be a good fit?

I offer a 15-minute phone consultation without charge to discuss your needs. I also check in after a few sessions to gather your feedback and assess if it would be to your benefit to continue together.

What can I expect in therapy?

During each session, I will be inviting you to bring up your primary concerns in your life. It would be beneficial for you to ponder and process what was discussed in between sessions and also complete certain tasks (if given) to help you gain the most out of each session.

How often and how long do I have to be in therapy?

This all depends on the nature of your mental health needs but my general recommendation is to be seen weekly for at least 3 to 4 months in order to build a strong therapeutic base and a momentum toward working towards your goal(s). Factors such as your specific therapy goals and the treatment modalities used will impact how long you may be in treatment.

How does teletherapy work?

While more information is being gathered, research has shown that telemental health services are just as effective as in-person sessions. There are also benefits to teletherapy which includes:

  • Avoiding travel time especially when you have a hectic schedule

  • Expanding your choice of service provider

  • Seeing a therapist from the comfort of your own home

  • Continuing therapy during your travel schedules and even if you relocate (if within the state of TX and CA)

What is your rate, and do you take insurance?

You can find more information about this here.

Do I have to be a Christian to be your client?

Not at all. While I identify as a Christian, you do not have to share my Christian beliefs; people of all faith backgrounds, gender, race, sexual orientation are welcome. If you are a Christian and would like to incorporate your beliefs in therapy, I'd be happy to discuss this further in our sessions.

Do you offer therapy in Korean?

I can speak Korean conversationally. However, I am unable to conduct sessions exclusively in Korean.

Do you provide psychological evaluation or prescribe medication?

I do not but can provide appropriate referrals to psychologists and psychiatrists who can do so.
